Ready when you are

Enter your input and run the tool to see your result here.

Good to know

Uses YAML 1.2 core schema: yes is a string, true is a boolean. Custom tags, duplicate keys, multiple documents and excessive aliases are rejected. Only string mapping keys are supported; date-like values stay strings. Quote large numbers to preserve precision. Your input is never uploaded.

Understand and use your results

Inspect configuration structure and value types before moving YAML into a JSON-based system. Pasted YAML is converted in your browser without uploading the source.

How to use it

  1. Enter one YAML document and run the conversion; the source remains in the input.
  2. Check the JSON strings, numbers and booleans before copying or downloading.

Worked example

Input and options
answer: yes
active: true
code: "001"
Result or interpretation
{
  "answer": "yes",
  "active": true,
  "code": "001"
}

Under the YAML 1.2 core schema, yes is a string and true is a boolean. Quote identifiers whose leading zeros must survive. Comments and original indentation are not part of the JSON data.

How do I fix a rejected document?

Check indentation and duplicate keys at the reported location. Custom tags, multiple documents, non-string map keys and cycles are unsupported. Quote large integers to avoid JavaScript numeric precision loss. Input is limited to 100,000 UTF-16 code units.
