Total wages in preceding 3 months (KRW): 7080000

FIELD NOTES

Understand and use your results

Estimate gross severance under the usual Korean formula. The averaging period and ordinary-wage floor make the wage basis visible so you can check it against payroll records.

How to use it

  1. Enter the start date and the day after the final working day, then collect wages for the preceding three calendar months.
  2. Enter eligible annual bonus and leave pay, plus daily ordinary wages.
  3. Confirm eligibility assumptions and inspect the averaging period, day count and gross estimate.

Worked example

Input and options
2014-10-02 → 2017-09-16 (exclusive)
Wages 7,080,000 · bonus 4,000,000 · leave 300,000 KRW
Daily ordinary wages unknown (0)
Result or interpretation
Service: 1,080 days
Averaging period: 2017-06-16–2017-09-15 (92 days)
Average daily wages: 88,641.30 KRW

Inputs follow the ministry’s worked example: (7,080,000 + 4,000,000×3/12 + 300,000×3/12) ÷ 92 gives average daily wages. Severance = greater of average or ordinary daily wages × 30 × service days ÷ 365. Three calendar months are not always 90 days.

Which cases need a more detailed calculation?

Service below one year is rejected. Mixed periods below 15 contractual hours/week, excluded periods such as certain leave, or interim settlements need separate assessment. Include only eligible annual leave pay, not all leave compensation newly triggered by retirement. Unknown ordinary wages entered as 0 can underestimate the result. Confirm the final amount with the labor ministry or a qualified labor professional.
